Term of Reference for Designing the Biodigester User Handbook

1. Background

The Biodigesters program for a low-carbon livestock sector in Vietnam (BioLive) is implemented by SNV-The Netherlands Development Organization with the plan of building 50,000 biodigesters for small livestock holder in the period 2022-2026 nationwide. Through the implementation of BioLive the practice of zero waste livestock, usage of clean energy, organic fertilizer production will be promoted. To support the farmer in optimizing the benefits of the biodigester investment, SNV will issue a Biodigester User Handbook to all participating farmers.

2. Quality requirement of the Handbook

To have the time saving and limit extra cost, SNV has initiated the preliminary layout of the handbook that has both specific content and the colored images or drawings. The remain work of the printing consultant is to produce the handbook that should meet the requirement as below:

  • Well design of final layout including the typical visualized logo of SNV;
  • Modify 7 drawing images and replace 16 photo images by a drawings, whereby the new drawings follow the original style of the handbook;
  • The handbook will be printed at the A5 size (148 mm x 210 mm) in 5 colors, similar to the original design;
  • The handbook will have a total of around 40 pages. Each page will have optimum space scale to have the drawing/image size as big and sharp as possible while the text is readable;
  • SNV cares for the environment: a quotation for recyclable paper (i.e. Kraft paper, Couche paper) will be preferred.

3. Amount of printed and delivery

3.1. Amount of printed

In total over the project period, SNV expects to require 50,000 handbooks. Whereas SNV would like to have a framework agreement for the entire volume, the current quotation will refer to a first batch of 3,000 handbooks. Subsequent order will for handbooks books then follow over the coming 5 years.

3.2. Delivery

SNV will receive only the final product, then the printing cost should cover:

  • Fee for publication if any;
  • The storage cost for each 3,000 printed at the consultant’s place in about 3 – 6 months;
  • The delivery cost to the address of SNV in Hanoi, 3rd Floor, Building D, La Thanh Hotel, 218 Doi Can street, Ba Dinh district, Hanoi.
